Interview with Dr Armaan Wallia

Welcome to the next edition of “Blugibbon Bites”, our series chatting with some of our regular locum Doctors, delving beyond the clinical façade and showcasing the human behind the stethoscope.

Up this week is Dr Armaan Wallia, a Locum Emergency Medicine Doctor originally from Glasgow, Scotland with Indian heritage, but now based in Brisbane, Queensland.

Despite these Scottish roots he was stunned to hear in the interview with our Marketing guru Joe, that Scotland’s national (mythical) animal is the Unicorn and not the “hairy coo”! aka The Highland Cow.

Yes, The Unicorn is on the front of the UK passport. Go check it out.

Looking for Locum jobs in Australia, he was looking for locum jobs in Sydney and locum jobs in Brisbane.  Armaan was referred to Blugibbon by a colleague when his regular locum recruitment agency sadly couldn’t produce the goods, Armaan was admittedly blown away by the energy he felt (and probably a sore ear) after an initial conversation with our energetic Sam Whitaker.

Dr Armaan Wallia, Brisbane based locumNeedless to say, he was placed in a locum soon after, heading off to country NSW on a last-minute locum adventure.

When he first arrived on Australia’s shores, he and some medical doctor friends planned to do some locum work in Sydney or look for locum jobs in Melbourne but settled in Brisbane, an unplanned decision he now is super glad he made.

Outside of his clinical work, he skateboards, surfs and is truly enjoying the laid-back nature of this country in his downtime, with plans to continue to locum with Blugibbon.

Armaan is one of hundreds that decide each year to leave the UK for sunnier shores and Blugibbon are always on hand to help find doctor jobs in Australia for those curious to take the leap. We even put together “A Doctor’s Guide to Working in Australia”.
